We partner with consultants and brokers

Right Choice Benefit Administrators markets their products primarily through consultants and brokers. Working with you to meet your clients’ needs, we will assist in developing a coordinated plan inclusive of administration services, reinsurance, and managed care networks. We also have favorable relationships with a number of Pharmacy Benefit Managers, as well as Case Management and Disease Management providers.

As a part of WellPoint, Inc., we can draw on the resources of the WellPoint companies that provides the health care benefits for one in every eight Americans. One example: WellPoint staff attorneys who specialize in IRS regulations for self-funded plans or COBRA and HIPAA regulations or changes in state-specific insurance coverage regulations are here to advise us. Another example: WellPoint-affiliated TPAs in other states exchange with us practical information on improving service to self-funded plans.

As a truly independent or non-captive TPA, we bring to each client a wide variety of products and multiple vendors in each product line – reinsurers, networks, PBMs, vision plans, case management, subrogation, ancillaries, etc. We help clients select products and vendors that best meet the client’s needs and price considerations … not the TPA’s needs. RightCHOICE does not (as our competitors may) promote a parent company’s PBM, for instance, or steer clients toward an in-house wellness program. We are free to transparently help clients select the best options.

Our history

Our company was created in 1996, through the merger of two of the Midwest's most successful TPAs: LaHood & Associates, Inc., in Overland Park, Kansas (founded 1977; acquired by BCBSKC 1985) and Pension Associates, Inc. (PAI), located in St. Louis, Missouri (founded 1957; acquired by BCBSMo in 1990).

In November 2005, the company split into two separate organizations: EPOCH Kansas City  and The EPOCH Group of St. Louis.

Recently, The EPOCH Group of St. Louis changed its name to RightCHOICE Benefit Administrators.
